Coober Pedy's highlights

  • Customer Information

(Most Coober Pedy's inhabitants are miners and almost everybody here own explosives.)

  • The Golf Course

Inhabitants of Coober Pedy built their own golf course. If you want to play, just bring your clubs, balls and a square of artificial grass (locals are happy to lend you their own grass for 2$ per hour).

And you know what - you can drive yourself in a car as far as the middle of the golf course and nobody tells you off!

  • The first tree in Coober Pedy

This is the first (and only) tree in Coober Pedy and it became world-famous when its photo appeared on the cover page of the National Geographic. It is made from rusty pipes.

  • Karl's grave

Coober Pedy is a well of distinguished people.

This is a grave of a gentleman called Karl. Karl was a heavy drinker and at the age of 40, he was diagnosed with a liver cancer. He decided to enjoy his life till the last momen - he spent all his money (he even got himself a credit card with a high limit to maximize his funds).

Before he died, he bought a barrel of beer and asked the priest to give a pint to everyone who came to his funeral so people remember him as a good man.

The barrel now rests on his grave.
